Mmmmm, the smell of sage, it must be autumn. What better way to celebrate than with a delicious Euphoria cocktail made with sage. And since sage is the office herb of Thanksgiving, the Euphoria is the perfect Thanksgiving cocktail!
I first had this cocktail at a dinner party for work and they were flowing cuz my work peeps are awesome like that. We were at a fancy restaurant and my boss said, “you have to try this” and I was hooked. The lovely bartender told us the recipe and somehow I remembered it!
You will start with some simple syrup. Super easy to make and great to have on hand. Just boil equal parts of sugar and water together. Let it cool and you are ready to go!
Here’s what you will need for 2 cocktails because who wants to drink alone!
1 ounce simple syrup
8 sage leaves, divided
2 ounces gin – Hendrick’s is my recommendation
2 ounces St-Germain
1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
Muddle together the simple syrup and six of the sage leaves in a cocktail shaker. Yes! That is a Safeco Field plastic shaker. I love that shaker. In fact, I have two. You used to get them with a margarita they make up in the Hit It Here Cafe. It is great! You can get the lid off after you make a cocktail unlike my metal ones that I need Hercules to help me with.
Put the gin, St-Germain, lemon juice and ice in your shaker and shake, shake, shake for about a half a minute so everything is nice and cold.
Although I am usually a Tanquerey gal, I like the Hendrick’s Gin for this cocktail as it has a very unique flavor https://us.hendricksgin.com/our-peculiar-past. It is infused with rosemary and cucumber and is simply tasty. It’s a little softer and a little smoother which makes for a better Euphoria cocktail.
St-Germain is a french aperitif made from elderberry blossoms. Super fancy. http://www.stgermain.fr
Strain mixture between two martini glasses. Float the remaining two sage leaves as a stunning garnish and enjoy!
